Scapa is a truly unique artisanal single malt Scotch whisky, forged by the elements of Orkney, a remote Scottish island of wild and untameable natural contrasts

The whisky is crafted on the main island of the Orkney archipelago, at one of the last remaining manually operated distilleries in Scotland.

Scapa Distillery is found on the shore of Scapa Flow, a natural harbour and one of Britain’s most historical stretches of water.

A small team of artisans create the island single malt by hand.  They pride themselves on using traditional methods and skills honed over several generations.

They make the whisky their own way:

  • Scapa Distillery has only a single pair of stills that make all of its whisky. It is a true small and artisanal island malt.
  • A unique barrel-shaped Lomond wash-still is used for the first distillation, resulting in a richer and fruitier new make spirit.

To survive on Orkney, islanders have to harness nature’s contrasts.  So too do our artisans, who have been influenced by both calm serenity and untamed wilderness, to create Scapa single malt.

The result is a honeyed single malt whisky with a very distinctive tasting profile for an island malt.

Skiren - The Honeyed Tropical One

This whisky is exclusively matured in first-fill American oak casks for a smooth, creamy sweetness, with a hint of tropical fruit, citrus and coastal heather.

On the nose are delicate scented floral flavours with a hint of fresh pear, sweet and fruity pineapple notes with a citrus tang. The taste is a smooth and sweet one of ripe honeydew melon slices, bursts of fruity pear, and sweet lemon sherbet. The finish is refreshing, shimmering sweetness.

Glansa - The Honeyed Smoky One

After maturing many years in first-fill American oak casks, this malt whisky is then further rested in casks that once held peated whisky, which will impart a subtle smokiness to the final crafted result.

Starting the maturation process with those precious casks allows the malt to develop its unique sweet honeyed flavours. The expert selection of peated casks ensures a perfect yet delicate smoky finish.
