Ballantine’s latest limited edition release with visual artist Shawna X celebrates positivity and community spirit, brought to life through the launch of a mural initiative and grants to support nightlife neighbourhoods.

Available from November at select whisky retailers worldwide

11th November –  Ballantine’s Scotch whisky has unveiled its latest artist collaboration, with New York-based artist and creative, Shawna X. The partnership, which looks to celebrate joy, colour and positivity with a new limited-edition bottle, will also be bringing communities back together through a series of initiatives, including vibrant murals across different cities, and a fund to help revitalise neighbourhoods and help the nightlife and events industry recover in the wake of the pandemic.

Shawna X is at the forefront of a rising generation of multi-faceted visual artists, known for her vibrant and colourful style and collaborations with the likes of Nike, Spotify, The New Yorker and her recent reinterpretation of the Oscars statue. Staying true to her style and ethos of invoking positivity through her artwork, Shawna X has now applied her signature splash of colour onto Ballantine’s iconic Finest bottle.

As the world starts to open up again, Ballantine’s and Shawna X will take the vibrant designs beyond the bottle to add touches of technicolour to neighbourhoods around the world. Together they will help support nightlife areas through a series of striking murals created by Shawna X in collaboration with local artists, that will recognise and reflect the unity and perseverance that has been forged out of the past 20 months.

Ballantine’s will also support the recovery of these scenes via grants that will be distributed to independent bars to help hospitality businesses and enable them to re-connect with their communities.

Shawna X said of the collaboration “After the past 20 months, everyone is in need of good vibes and positivity – it’s amazing to be able to bring some joy and colour to communities with Ballantine’s, both on shelves and beyond the bottle into streets and bars. Community spirit is something that has always been important to me so being able to work closely with and champion local communities around the world has been an a unique experience.“

Ballantine’s Marketing Director, Mathieu Deslandes, added:

“The Ballantine’s x Shawna X limited edition celebrates community spirit and bringing people back together. Nightlife neighbourhoods and the hospitality industry have faced a tough time over the past year or two and we are pleased to give back to the places where Ballantine’s is best enjoyed – the bars. I can’t wait to see these bold and vibrant designs inject a sense of joy and colour on to shelves around the world.”

Designed in Shawna’s signature style, the Shawna X limited-edition bottles and gift packs will be available at selected retailers worldwide from November 2021 and via this link.
