Royal Salute significantly cuts packaging carbon footprint by introducing a new glass flagon

21/06/2022

Royal Salute, the master of exceptionally aged blended Scotch whisky, announces the introduction of a beautiful coated glass flagon from June 2022, to reduce its environmental footprint.

Royal Salute has taken the time to find the right sustainable material to ensure the quality of its exceptional blends is maintained, whilst limiting its impact on the environment. By introducing a coated glass flagon, Royal Salute has significantly reduced its packaging carbon footprint thanks to a less energy intensive production process and finding a material that is easily recyclable around the world. These positive changes have been made without compromising on the distinctive presentation of the Scotch’s high-aged expressions or changing the unique spark of enchantment that comes with tasting Royal Salute.

Whilst this is a significant change, the meticulous design process undertaken has made it possible to introduce a new beautiful flagon that allows whisky lovers to continue enjoying the same exceptional blends, distinguished visual identity and the high standard synonymous with Royal Salute.

Mathieu Deslandes, Royal Salute Global Marketing Director says

“It is incredibly important to us that we play our part in taking care of the world around us, by reducing the environmental impact of our whiskies, saving precious natural resources and helping mitigate climate change. The introduction of this new more sustainable flagon is a crucial step in our journey to ensure all our packaging will be 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.

Looking to the future is at the very heart of Royal Salute; our whisky that is laid down in casks today will be aged for a minimum of 21 years, so we need to act today to meet Royal Salute lovers’ expectations in the future.”

The new glass flagons will start housing the 21 Year Old Signature Blend from June 2022, with further moves across the portfolio to follow. Visit royalsalute.com or follow @royalsalute to discover more.
